Rene Mangal -
Principal of JTC Enviro Energy Solutions
Rene Mangal, served as Project Manager at Kinectrics (formerly Ontario Power Generation) for 6 years and as Project Manager at Ontario Power Generation and Ontario Hydro Research Division for 25 years. In those positions his primary responsibility was to conduct Research and Development related to the generation, delivery and use of electricity for the benefit of the Ontario public, while at the same time minimizing the environmental and health impacts of the use of fossil fuels. Specifically, his expertise encompassed air quality research by addressing rulemaking for mercury, regional haze and particulate matter by providing comprehensive information to policy decision makers and key stakeholders on the impact of air quality on public health, visibility and the environment. He is viewed as a key researcher in developing technologies for controlling acid rain precursors such as nitrogen oxides and sulphur oxides emissions.
Rene is instrumental in providing decision makers and stakeholders with analyses and information on the ongoing evolution and implementation of carbon management policies and strategies with regard to mitigation costs, technology performance and potential risks of greenhouse gas reduction options. Rene is also instrumental in carrying out research, development and demonstration to transfer renewable energy resources into cost competitive, high performance bio-fuels, bio-products, and bio-power. The author of more than 30 publications, Rene holds degrees in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the province of Ontario.
